This post is about joining your work using mattress stitch. I must admit most times I tend to crochet my work together but to be honest there are sometimes when you really need to join your work using this method of using Mattress Stitch also often used with hand sewing projects, mending blankets etc…
Using the mattress stitch is a great way of grafting two knitted pieces together. Using this technique, the two pieces will be joined together using an invisible seam.
You will need to use two slightly different techniques for knitted pieces in the stockinette stitch and in the garter stitch.
In this tutorial, we have included both video tutorials and infographics that explain these two different techniques.
We have included an infographic which shows how to sew mattress stitches in the stockinette and garter stitch for you all.
Jpg One :- This infographic depicts how to sew mattress stitch in stockinette stitch. It comes courtesy of the Yarn-Store.
Jpg Two:- This infographic depicts how to sew mattress stitches in the garter. It comes courtesy of Knitting Daily.
I’ve also included a video from YouTube that you can access to help those who need to visualise how to sew the Mattress Stitch itself;

Hopes this helps you with joining your work together. Have a wonderful Day wont you! - Carey, Casz's Country Craft's.
